Ways to Detox at Home

If you’ve been used potent painkillers for an extended period of time due to chronic pain or post-surgery treatment, detoxifying your body is beneficial. This process will remove excess toxins from your body and help to strengthen your immune system. While “detoxing” is usually associated with recovering from alcoholism or drug abuse, getting rid of harmful substances in the body is ideal for everyone, regardless of whether addiction has been an issue.

One of the first things you should do when you’re preparing to detox is to take a drug test. This will let you know how much of the medication is in your system before you start the detoxification. The more harmful substances need to be removed from your body, the longer you’ll need to detox. It’s also a good idea to take drug tests throughout the detox, so you can chart your progress. Complete Drug Testing Solutions has all the tests you need to ensure that you’re safely and effectively ridding your body of toxins and medications that could have adverse side effects.

Drinking herbal teas can help to stimulate your liver, making it easier for your body to expel wastes. Dandelion, burdock and licorice teas are ideal for detoxing. Taking the herbs in capsule form will intensify their effects and help to move your detoxification process along quicker. It’s also important to drink plenty of water to hydrate your internal organs and manage the fatigue you may experience by detoxing.

An enema can help to jumpstart your detox as well. This is also effective if you’re maintaining your sobriety after intense rehabilitation. The enema will clean your lower intestines and help to remove impurities quickly. Epsom salt and coffee are ideal ingredients to use in enemas; since they are affordable, you can use them as often as you need to.

Maintaining a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables is essential both during and after detox. This will lessens the chances that you’ll need such an intense cleansing during future detox periods.

Fasting the Islamic way is a really good way to detox. I loose about 10 to 15 pounds every year during the month of Ramadan. You can pretty much eat anything you like but basically you go all day without any food or water typically from Sunrise to Sunset. We usually break our fast following our prophets tradition with 2 or 3 dates a glass of water and a bowl of soup take a 5 to 10 minute break for prayers then eat a meal after wards. This can be tough the first couple of days but basically it’s great way to detox just make sure you eat and hydrate early morning before your long day. Your body will be detoxing all day long doing this over 30 days should tip the scale to less toxicity in the body. Also if you don’t eat all day your stomach will shrink hence evening time little food will fill you up.
