Drugs that Increase Breast Size

A number of women want to have bigger breasts, but are apprehensive about getting breast implants. Medications that can enhance breast size have gotten mixed reviews from medical professionals and users. It’s also easy to abuse these pills, especially if an individual is looking for quick results without having to go under the knife.

Herbal supplements like wild yam root have been known to make breasts bigger, as the capsules help to balance the hormones. Women with low estrogen levels will sometimes have smaller breasts. However, wild yam can also cause water retention, which makes parts of the body, including the breasts, swell much larger than their normal size. This water weight can be hard to get rid of, and additional medication may be necessary to shed the weight, which can also reduce the size of the breast.

There are also breast enlargement pills that contain a number of natural herbs—but these are not always safe. Ingredients like dandelion root and dong quai are in many of these herbal medications, but the herbs can cause stomach discomfort, especially in people who are already suffering from digestive disorders. Supplements that alter the function of the hormones, like black cohosh and saw palmetto, are also found in breast enhancement medications. Black cohosh can cause weight gain, fatigue and depression in women who have not yet reached menopause, due to the high estrogen content of the herb. Saw palmetto can also offset a woman’s hormones and increase testosterone production; the herb is also used to treat men suffering from or attempting to prevent prostate cancer.

Dr. Adriane Fugh-Berman, a professor of complementary and alternative medicine at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, states that breast enhancement pills should not used, because there is not enough evidence to confirm their safety. The estrogen-boosting power of the pills can cause excess tissue to grow in the uterus, which increases the risk of uterine cancer.

If you suspect that a patient is taking too many of these pills and you observe side effects such as PMDD, weight gain and depression, administering a test from Complete Drug Testing Solutions could give you the answers you need. After you receive the results, you can come up with ways to help the patient get off the pills, and suggest exercises or healthy foods that can keep the breasts—and the rest of the body—healthy.
