The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that it costs employers around $75 to $100 billion yearly to pay for drug abuse in the workplace. Federal air safety regulators have hit United Airlines for fines of $584,375 for supposedly failing to perform proper workplace drug testing on workers in safety-sensitive areas.
